    Label Student's Outerwear

Parents please write your child's name in their gloves, boots, coats, snowpants, hats.  Often times students might forget to put something in their locker or drop something in the hallway and then it ends up in the lost and found.  It is so helpful when we can find a name so we can get it returned to the child.

South Elementary is recognized as a schoolwide Title I school.  Every year, the administration and staff review the school’s data to determine a schoolwide focus.  We then set goals and activities for the upcoming school year.  All information is compiled and considered for review and used to make informed decisions that are best for South students.  These plans are laid out in continuous improvement goals that South Elementary staff will work on throughout the upcoming school year.  Information is collected from various sources including, but not limited to, parent, staff and student surveys, demographic data, achievement data, program data and perception data.  The following goals are our focus for the 20-21 school year.

    South's Schoolwide Goals

    • South students will be empowered to continuously develop, improve and connect 21st Century Skills and academic proficiency in all content areas.
    • South students will graduate ready to pursue lifelong learning, find their passion and contribute to society.
    • South students will be engaged in nurturing and safe learning environments that allow them to grow and develop their physical, social and emotional well-being.

  • Art Gallery

The goal for our art gallery is to display work from every South student sometime throughout the school year.

Inspiration for this art gallery originated in honor of Alexa Kersting, daughter of Loren and Monica Kersting, who passed away in July of 2004 while waiting for a lung transplant.

During Alexa’s six years as a student here, she created many works of art and poetry, as all our students have done.  The frames for the gallery were purchased by the Kerstings to commemorate Alexa’s love of the arts.

The following students will have their art on display the week of January 4; Shyann Olson, Tatum Jorgensen, Audra Hunt, Zoe Morro, Nevada Huschka Breen, Emery LeClair, Avery Matteson, Michael Swedberg, Jada McClaflin, Bakar Shaale, Payton Oasheim, Brenden Gruby, Kate Osmondson, Ana Murray, Henley Meyer, Alexus Laufenberg, Jacob Dukes-Pate, Kyler Krabbenhoft, Harper Dixon, Ryder Bonnet, Annabelle Patton, and Kraven Redday

  • Attention WFPS Parents

Even though all students will receive free meals, the district requests every family complete the online free/reduced meal application for the federal meal program. The amount of funding the district receives is dependent on our rate of free/reduced students, as is our eligibility for additional grant funding. Ensuring our free/reduced rate is an accurate representation of our district is vital in providing a valuable education. Additionally, families eligible for the program receive waivers for fees associated with student activities, college applications, and standardized tests (ACT, SAT, and AP exams). As of Friday, the families of nearly 2,000 West Fargo students still need to submit the application.

  • Recess Clothing

Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather before they leave the house in the morning.  Students go outside everyday for recess unless the temperature or wind chill is -15 degrees.   Make sure they have a warm coat, gloves, snowpants, boots and a hat everyday they come to school.
