Substituting at West Fargo Public Schools
Welcome to West Fargo Public Schools! As a substitute in the West Fargo Public Schools, your role is critically important. Whether you take daily assignments or choose to participate in a long-term role, each time you enter a classroom to teach or assist, you are responsible for our community’s most valuable resource…its children.
The substitute handbook is designed to help you in your efforts to become familiar about our schools and our students. Your responsibility is to replace the regular teacher or paraprofessional and to carry out, to the best of your abilities, the duties and responsibilities of that individual. We trust that each time you substitute, the students will have a meaningful and productive educational experience.
Thank you for your commitment to the education and development of the students of West Fargo Public Schools!
School Year 2020-2021 for Substitutes
This school year will look a bit different, but our substitutes are still an integral part of our success! For substitutes that plan to return to onsite work, there are several things to know prior to the first day of onsite classes, which begin on September 3, 2020. First, the district calendar looks significantly different this year, so please ensure that you only pick up assignments on days that there will be students onsite unless you have a pre-arranged, long-term assignment with instructions to work on non-student contact days. The West Fargo Public Schools hybrid calendar is available here and students will be onsite on days shaded in pink and purple.
There will not be an onsite orientation for substitutes, however resources are available here, so please check them out! Additionally, all substitutes will need to follow the safety protocols outlined in the District's Return to Learn plan, including prescreening and wearing a mask.
We anticipate that conditions could change quickly as the school year gets underway, so please monitor your Absence Management account for updates to assignments or web alerts that are released as guidelines within the state or district evolve.
We look forward to working with you and greatly appreciate all that you do to make West Fargo Public Schools the district of choice!
