Hello Bobcat Parent(s),
There is a possibility of incoming weather this weekend and our staff and learners have been preparing for it just in case we have to conduct learning from home as we have no more scheduled snow days. Learners will be taking their iPads home and it will be important that their iPads are charged and ready to go. To be clear, this is just in case.
The next couple of weeks are supposed to be cold. Please send your children (all grades) with their winter gear. It has been a mild winter thus far, and we are in the habit of not using our gloves, hats, coats, boots, and snowpants. These are needed when the weather falls below 40 at school as we do not have enough to lend out and need to ensure our kids are safe from cold weather. Thank you for your assistance.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:
Thank you for attending conferences, it was great seeing our parents interacting with our teachers to ensure the kids are on the right track. There were learner successes to share as well as areas of growth needed. It is amazing to think we only have 42 days left of school, so let's make the most out of them. We did not reach our 95% attendance goal, but we were close...93%. Again, thank you for your time, it is appreciated.
UPCOMING NO SCHOOL DAYS:
There will be no school on the following days; Friday, March 29th and Monday, April 1st.
NORTH DAKOTA STATE ASSESSMENT (NDSA):
Our 3rd and 5th graders have been working hard on their NDSA exams as this is required by the state for our learners to determine their grasp on ND standards. Our 4th graders will start testing next week. Teachers should be sharing their testing schedule, and it is important for our learners to get a good night's rest and a breakfast, so they can do their very best. Please provide them with encouragement and celebrate their learning. Learners are assessed in Writing, Reading, Math and Science (4th gr. only).
BEFORE /AFTER SCHOOL DROP OFF/PICK UP:
BUS LOOP (West side of building):
The bus loop, by Door #2, is intended to primarily serve for drop off for our busses, daycare vans and for grades 3-5 students (in the morning). Please pull ahead as far as you can so we can have room for multiple cars.
After school, there is no pickup of students in the bus loop- it is ONLY for daycare vans and busses in the afternoon.
DROP-OFF LOOP (North Side Loop)..by parking lot:
When dropping of children, stay to the right side and enter the parking lot using the northeast entrance (close to the water tower).
Please continue to pull forward as far as you can within the loop so others can drop off as well. When exiting the drop off area, please drive slowly.
When ready to leave our parking area, we ask that you make a right hand turn in order to help with our traffic flow. Please exit on the right side as there is a lane to enter the parking lot from the east side. It is marked, but we want to make you aware for safety. This area gets real congested so if we all follow the procedure we will ensure that every child is dropped off safely.
We do appreciate your help in keeping Brooks Harbor a safe place for our children.
DRIVER DO NOT EXIT YOUR VEHICLE NOR PARK IN THE LOOP. If you would like to walk your child in or observe them walking in, please park your vehicle in the parking spots, not the loop area. Please be respectful of our paras/staff as their goal to keep our kids safe and help the flow of traffic.
Sincerely,
Mr. Zepeda, Principal
